Hemp, man’s oldest cultivated crop, was well known for its essential oil aroma and therapeutic abilities on the central nervous system.
It was used as an ingredient in the holy anointing oil during Biblical times which consisted of hemp, myrrh, cinnamon and olive oil.
Hemp essential oil was utilized for both medicinal and spiritual purposes: The wealthiest Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans enjoyed the extravagance of lavishing perfumed oils on their body as well as in their luxurious baths.
Steam distillation became common practice during the 11th Century, and by the 16th century many more essential oils were introduced for their healing properties.
Herbal medications and essential oils were still being used up until the Victorian Age, when they were then pushed to the side in favor of pharmaceutical drugs.
Produced exclusively from the flowers of female or hermaphrodite plants by low-pressure steam distillation, it requires 50lbs of flowers to produce 20ml (1oz) of pure oil. After distillation there is no THC or CBD remaining, only the natural essence of the plant.
It is pale yellow to light green in color and the highly concentrated scent of the sativa hemp plant is earthy, sweet, and peppery.
Keep in mind organic pure hemp essential oil is not hemp seed oil which is a product obtained from the pressed seeds of the hemp plant.
Hemp is especially suited for protracted and chronic health problems and pains. It is a truly holistic oil that works on both a physical and emotional level and offers a wide range of health enhancing benefits. Its properties include:
